Greetings!
I hope this finds everyone having had a great holiday season and start to their year!
Things on the computer collecting/preservation/history/museum front may seem quiet at this time of year, but there is a lot going on behind the scenes getting ready for some interesting things ahead in the spring.
First, be sure to mark your calendars for Vintage Computer Festival East 10.0 (VCFeX) that runs from Friday, April 17 to Sunday, April 19. It will be hosted by MARCH at the InfoAge Science Center down in Wall, NJ. This promises to be “quite” a show if you can make it — Ted Nelson & Bob Franston will be speaking along with a lot of other great folks!
Second, the Flea@MIT will be returning on the third Sunday of the month from April to October again this year. The first Flea will be on Sunday, April 19. If you’re keeping track, yes, that’s the same weekend as VCFeX above.
Decisions, decisions!
As you can probably guess, in all likelihood a lot of us enthusiasts will be heading south for that weekend (yes, including myself). If you aren’t able to head down to New Jersey, then we can catch up the second Flea which will be on May 17th. As usual, you will be to get the announcements if you are signed up for the New Computer Museum Meetup.
Finally, over the holiday break I finally got around to my long overdue update to this page about computer preservation and history (M. E. Hopper, Cosma). Check it out & enjoy!
Warm Winter Cheers!
Mary
